McWicked makes big move in Poll

Hightstown, NJ — Canadian Pacing Derby winner McWicked made the biggest upward move in this week’s Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll, going from No. 7 a week ago to No. 3 thanks to his victory over a field that included ninth-ranked Lazarus N.
Kissin In The Sand, who won the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes championship for 3-year-old female pacers, also got a boost, rising from 10th to No. 7.
The only other winner in the Top 10 was No. 5 Courtly Choice, who captured a division of the New York Sire Stakes this past Tuesday.
Atlanta and Manchego remained 1-2, respectively, in the rankings. Neither filly raced last week.
Three of the horses in the Top 10 competed in last week’s Maple Leaf Trot, which was won by Crazy Wow. Marion Marauder finished second, Ariana G finished third and Hannelore Hanover was fifth.
Shartin N finished eighth in the Great Northeast Open Series for female pacers and fell one spot to fourth in the poll.
The Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll does not determine Horse of the Year. The U.S. Harness Writers Association votes in December on all Dan Patch Award division winners plus Trotter of the Year, Pacer of the Year and Horse of the Year.
