East Rutherford, NJ — The Meadowlands Racetrack is hosting its third annual Battle for the Best Burger on Saturday (June 9) in the East Apron of the Grandstand. The contest offers a $1,500 grand prize with $1,000 for second place and $500 for third.

This free event runs from 12 noon-10 p.m. and fans are encouraged to come out and taste some of the best local burgers. Two lucky fans will win a spot at the Judging Table and help determine the top three burgers. Judging takes place at 4 p.m.

A full house of ten participants in this year’s Battle include Chef Bryan Gregg of Orama, Little Bite of Paradise, South + Pine American Eatery (2016 Burger Battle champions), Carnival Concessions (2017 Burger Battle champs), Good Mood Truck, Fed by Ed, Chris Curbside Cravings, The New Maggie’s Bar & Grill, Spanky’s Gourmet Grub and Dark Side of the Moo.

“We are glad to bring this popular event back. Our fans look forward to tasting some of the best burgers in the Meadowlands area,” said Meadowlands General Manager and COO Jason M. Settlemoir. “Plus, history may be made that day if Justify can grab the Triple Crown with a win in the Belmont Stakes.”

In addition to the Burger Battle, Justify races in the Belmont Stakes to see if he can make history and become a Triple Crown winner. Belmont post is 6:37 p.m. Fans looking for more than burgers can enjoy our $39.95 BBQ Buffet. The Buffet opens at 12 noon in the Gallery and includes brisket, sausage, chicken and mac & cheese. Call 201-The-BigM for reservations. The Pink Deck will also be open with a grill and bar and TVs to catch the Belmont simulcast action.
