Washington, PA – Here is this week’s Meadows Monday Memo.
WILDER RETURNS TO MEADOWS
Mike Wilder, one of The Meadows’ leading drivers each year, has made his return to Pennsylvania after spending the winter training in Florida with his father-in-law, Dan Altmeyer. The Altmeyer-Wilder Stable has several horses entered this coming week, and Wilder has already started picking up catch drives. He appeared in 12 races this past week and will continue to increase his presence.
APRIL SERIES RACES START THIS WEEK
The second and final round of Spring Series races will begin this Wednesday (April 1) at The Meadows. While the recently concluded March series events were for 3- and 4-year-olds, the April races are limited to 3-year-olds. Series races will take place daily, with two preliminary legs followed by a final for the top point-earners.
DERBY DAY POST TIME
Hollywood Casino at The Meadows announces that its post time on Saturday, May 2, will be 10:30 a.m. (EDT). The card will feature sophomore colt pacers in the first Pennsylvania Sire Stakes and Pennsylvania Stallion Series races of the season.
THREE DAYS OF RACING THIS WEEK
Hollywood Casino at The Meadows is currently in its winter three-day-per-week schedule, with racing on Wednesday through Friday afternoons at 12:45 p.m. Thirteen races are carded for this Wednesday.
QUALIFYING UPDATE
Effective April 1, the Pennsylvania State Horse Racing Commission has set the qualifying rule at all PA tracks at 60 days. This includes all overnight events, along with PA Sire Stakes and PA Stallion Series races. The rule will remain in effect for the rest of 2026.
