Washington, PA – Here is this week’s Meadows Monday Memo:
LARGE FIELDS SET FOR THIS WEEK
The Meadows will host 39 races from Wednesday through Friday, with 35 of those races carded with nine horse fields. Racing will take place at 12:45 p.m. each day.
OPEN FIELD TOPS $1 MILLION IN 2024
Friday’s (Dec. 13) feature race will be the $21,200 Open Pace, featuring a field of nine horses that have combined for more than $1 million in earnings this season. The group is led by Timeisonmyside, the 3-year-old owned by The Stable and trained by Tim Twaddle and driven by Anthony MacDonald. The eight-time winner has banked more than $271,000 this season. Second on the earnings list this year among the field is Charlie May, who returns to the Twaddle Stable this week after a fourth-place finish at Hollywood Dayton last week for trainer Steve Carter. Charlie May has more than $224,000 in earnings this season for owner Don Tiger.
WILSON STABLE SHARP
Trainer Tim Wilson Jr, who has been racing horses at The Meadows for the last six weeks, has one of the sharpest stables in the region right now. Since arriving from the Midwest, he has raced 19 horses locally, with seven wins and a UTRS trainer rating of .503.
TRACK RECORD HOLDER RETURNS
Jeffery P, who co-owns the track record for older trotting geldings (1:51.3 in 2021), will return to action in Wednesday’s (Dec. 11) feature race, an upper-level conditioned trot. The Ron Burke trainee last raced in June, and requalified on December 3, winning in 1:57.1 with driver Tom Davis. Ronnie Wrenn will drive the now 9-year-old in the 8th race on Wednesday afternoon.
