Stockholm — The 6-year-old Mellby Jinx, sired by Ready Cash and trained and driven by Daniel Wäjersten, had an impressive season last year, and there are strong indications that 2025 could be even better.
On Saturday afternoon (March 29), Mellby Jinx and Daniel Wäjersten won one of Solvalla’s classic races for top horses, the C Th. Ericssons Memorial over 2,100 meters (1-5/16 miles) in a time of 1:54.2f (mile rate) – with a first prize of $50,000.
Following the victory, Mellby Jinx received an invitation to compete in Finland’s largest race, the May 5 Finlandia Ajo — an invitation that was gladly accepted.
Incidentally, the winner of the Finlandia Ajo receives an invitation to participate in the Elitlopp, which takes place at Solvalla on May 25.
Additionally, the Swedish top horse Francesco Zet received an invitation to start in the Elitlopp on Saturday evening, becoming the fifth horse to be invited so far.
Francesco Zet also participated in last year’s Elitlopp as a favorite but ended up finishing fourth in the final. Francesco Zet, trained by Daniel Redén, has yet to race this year.
