Dover, DE — Melvin G won his 11th consecutive race when he captured Tuesday’s (April 1) $50,850 late-closing series final for Delaware-eligible 3-year-old male trotters at Bally’s Dover.
Driver Jim Morand and Melvin G took full advantage of the strong wind conditions and blasted to the top. Melvin G, the 1-5 favorite, set fractions of :29, :58 and 1:27.1 while Legend Of Rock saved energy in the pocket and Brass Survivor mounted a gradual first-over bid into the far turn. Melvin G romped to a five-length victory, trotting the mile in 1:57.1. Brass Survivor finished second; Bucky Highway was a ground-saving third.

Melvin G, a gelded son of E L Platinum, is owned by Legacy Racing of Delaware and Nanticoke Racing and trained by Les Givens. He paid $2.40 to win.
Swan In Motion won wire-to-wire in 1:53.4 in the sub-featured $18,000 winners-over trot, giving Tim Tetrick one of his three driving wins on the 14-race card.
Wednesday’s (April 2) card features a $51,750 late closer final for Delaware-eligible sophomore pacing fillies, carded as race six, and a $25,000 Mares Open Handicap Pace, carded as race 12. First post is 4:30 p.m.
