Washington, PA — The Pennsylvania County Fair Racing Circuit, in conjunction with the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association, is pleased to announce that two events this summer will be named in honor of a pair of longtime fair circuit horsemen who passed away this past winter.

On Friday, July 1, the Pennsylvania Sire Stake 3-year-old colt trot at the Big Butler Fair (Butler County) will be named in honor of Terry Schoeffel, former President of the Pennsylvania Fair Harness Horsemen’s Association. Schoeffel passed away in December 2010.

On Thursday, August 18, the PASS 2-year-old colt trot at the Dayton Fair (Dayton, Pa.) will be the Ken Weaver Memorial Trot, in honor of the longtime Dayton-based horseman. Weaver also passed away in December 2010.

The Meadows Standardbred Owners Association will donate blankets for the races, to be awarded to the fastest winner among the divisions.

Racing on the PA Fair Circuit begins June 25 at the Crawford County Fairgrounds in Meadville, Pa., and runs through the end of September, with championships set for The Meadows on October 8.
