Michigan Sire Stakes headline Northville opening weekend

Northville, MI — Northville Downs opens its doors for the 2022 fall meet this coming weekend, with nearly $1 million in purses on the line throughout the Friday (Sept. 9) and Saturday (Sept. 10) cards.

Friday features the return of Dollar Night, which includes $1 live race programs, pop and popcorn, and $2 hot dogs. On the race schedule for Friday, there are two non-wagering races starting at 5:30 p.m., plus a 12-race pari-mutuel card starting at 7:30 p.m. The non-wagering races consist of the $111,918 Michigan Sire Stakes final for 2-year-old pacing fillies and the $110,118 MSS 2-year-old colt pace. The regular card features the $92,094 MSS 2-year-old filly trot, the $113,918 MSS 2-year-old colt trot, and a $10,800 Open Trot.

Saturday features four Michigan Sire Stakes finals for 3-year-olds: the $108,325 colt trot, the $106,325 filly pace, the $111,925 filly trot and the $107,925 colt pace. They are carded as non-wagering events, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The 3-year-old colt trot. A$10,800 Open Pace headlines the 11-race pari-mutuel program.

In addition to racing returning to Metro Detroit, fans can tune in to fun and random videos and posts by Michigan harness racing participants on the new TikTok page @GetYourHeartRacingMI. Handicapping selections will be offered each race night by track announcers Ken Terpenning and Tony Mosesso in addition to The Big Horse Handicapper, who will continue to offer selections in the live race program and online at the Northville Downs’ website.

Northville Downs will host racing every Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. through Dec. 17.
