Grove City, OH — Midnight Nolan continued to shine in the Buckeye Stallion Series as she won for the third time in the series, taking the third $20,000 division for 2-year-old filly trotters at MGM Northfield Park on Wednesday (Aug. 9).
Midnight Nolan with Kurt Sugg grabbed the lead just past the opening quarter and fought off a charge from Jurassic Hattie entering the final turn to win by two lengths in a new lifetime mark of 1:56.1. Trained by Dan Walski and owned by Walski Stables, it was the third win in four starts for the daughter of Uncle Peter. Jurassic Hattie finished second with My Rory third.
In the first division, Kaminari with Aaron Merriman charged up the backstretch, took command around the final turn, and drew away to win by three lengths in a new lifetime mark of 1:59. The daughter of What The Hill is trained by Chris Beaver, who co-owns Kaminari with Sandra Burnett. It was the filly’s second win in five starts. Sedona Hill was second with Tammie Sue third.
Purplepeopleater and Anthony MacDonald fired off the gate and grabbed the lead on the way to a gate-to-wire victory in the other division. The What The Hill filly cruised to the 4-1/2 length victory in a new lifetime mark of 1:59. It was the second win in five starts for the Jason McGinnis trainee owned by Thestable Purplepeopleatr and Hutchison Harness. Lead Off finished second with Madame Pele finishing third.
Buckeye Stallion Series action resumes Sunday (Aug. 13) when 2-year-old colt pacers take the track at MGM Northfield Park.
