Milby triples, Mclenaghan sweeps features at Rosecroft

Ft. Washington, MD — Jammin Jack is one of three very talented trotters in the Stacey Mclenaghan barn. Thursday night at Rosecroft he added a $10,000 Open Handicap Trot win to his 2023 portfolio as Frank Milby guided him to a win over Funnyfunnyriddle (Hugh O’Neil) and Crossfit Mouse (Corey Braden).

The son of Angus Hall won for the third time this year for owner David Jarvis by stopping the clock in 1:55.3. It was one of three wins for Miilby who scored with Alexis’ Fraternity for Gerald and Tammy Lafferty and trainer Timmy Offutt and Charlie Undercover, part of a training double for Barry Kingston.

Mclenaghan one race earlier saw Talk Show Chica wire a good field of Open mares for $12,000 in 1:52.3, tying a season’s best. It was the eighth win in 20 starts for the daughter of Heston Blue Chip owned by Braden who was in the bike. She has now been first or second in 10 of her last 11 starts.

Katie Callahan continues to lead the trainers’ standings as she picked up two more wins to raise her meet total to 15. One of those came with Dive Bar, driven by 19-year-old Wyatt Long in the Mid-Atlantic Amateur Drivers Club. The other division of the amateurs went to 80-year-old Bob Sampson as Foxbriar Romeo rallied from way back to win from post eight.

Roger Plante had a training-driving double as well, while Scottish born reinsman Hugh O’Neil picked up his first Rosecroft victory.

Rosecroft will race a special Saturday card this week with a first race post of 12:30 p.m.
