Milleniums Girl wins feature at Vernon

Vernon, NY — Milleniums Girl ($4.60) and driver Barton Dalious captured the $6,000 distaff pacing feature on Friday (Oct. 6) at Vernon Downs.

Milleniums Girl led to the quarter in :26 before yielding to Grant Me This (John MacDonald), who took the lead going down the backstretch and controlled middle fractions of :54.4 and 1:23.3. As they made the turn for home, Milleniums Girl re-emerged and took the lead in the stretch. Prairie Magical (Dan Harvey) came flying late but had to settle for second money as Milleniums Girl won in a lifetime best 1:52.3. Ellegant Noelle (Jimmy Whittemore) and Jeannie’s Terror (Tom Merton) finished in a dead heat for third.

Milleniums Girl is a 5-year-old mare by Royel Millenium owned by Chris and Dale Lawton and trained by David Dewhurst. It was her third win this season. She now owns 13 career victories.

Aaron Byron had a driving triple. Frank Affrunti, John MacDonald and Jimmy Whittemore had driving doubles.
