Minnesota Racing Commission awards $80,000 in bonuses to Standardbreds

from the Minnesota Racing Commission

Shakopee, MN — The Minnesota Racing Commission has awarded $80,000 in open company bonuses under the first year of the program implemented to reward owners of Minnesota-bred Standardbreds that finish first through third in open company races at Running Aces Casino & Racetrack.

It is anticipated the MRC will allocate $100,000 in 2019.

“The Minnesota Standardbred breeding program has shown improvement in quality over the last few years, and that is demonstrated by these bonus pay-outs. As opposed to only being competitive in restricted races, our ‘Stars of the North’ are more than competitive in open-company fields,” stated Minnesota Racing Commission Deputy Director Joe Scurto.

The top-earning Standardbred pacer, Place At The Beach, earned owner Peg A. Hoffman $3,866 in Minnesota Breeders’ Fund bonus awards. Whatevershesgot, the top-earning Standardbred trotter, earned owner Jenni King $2,358 in bonus awards.
