Quillen Memorial, DSBF stakes headline stellar Monday Harrington program

Harrington, DE — The 12th annual $150,000 Bobby Quillen Memorial Pace headlines a stellar 15-race card Monday (Sept. 17) at Harrington Raceway.

The Quillen has brought some of the sport’s top older pacers to Delaware over the years, including 2015 Horse of the Year Wiggle It Jiggleit and three-time champion Foiled Again.

This year’s event features one of the more wide open divisions in recent years, and includes 2017 champ Bit Of A Legend N (15-1, Jordan Stratton) for trainer Peter Tritton, whose repeat bid won’t likely come easily after he drew post position seven.

Bit Of A Legend N is one of two horses in the field with more than $400,000 in seasonal earnings, the other being Ron Burke-trained Rockin Ron (7-2, Yannick Gingras) who drew the rail.

Evenin Of Pleasure (9-2, Joe Bongiorno) recently won the $260,000 Joe Gerrity Memorial at Saratoga and drew post six.

Endeavor (3-1, Trace Tetrick) will travel the greatest distance to race. The Jeff Cullipher-trainee is based in Indiana and rides a two-race win streak, that most recently included a lifetime best of 1:48.3.

Previous Quillen entrants Somewhere In L A (4-1, Jason Bartlett) and Scott Rocks (8-1, Eric Goodell) are back.

Local interest Blazing Bobby Sox (12-1, Art Stafford Jr.) drew outside post eight and is the only horse in the field with a start this year over the track. Blazing Bobby Sox won the $40,000 Governor’s Cup on July 26 at Harrington.

The Quillen is the first leg of the Late Pick-4 (races eight through 11).

The complete field in post position order can be found below:

1. Rockin Ron (7-2, Yannick Gingras)
2. Somewhere In L A (4-1, Jason Bartlett)
3. Scott Rocks (8-1, Eric Goodell)
4. Endeavor (3-1, Trace Tetrick)
5. Sunfire Blue Chip (9-2 Mark MacDonald)
6. Evenin Of Pleasure (8-1, Joe Bongiorno)
7. Bit Of A Legend N (15-1, Jordan Stratton)
8. Blazing Bobby Sox (12-1, Art Stafford Jr.)

On the undercard, five $20,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund divisions will be contested in the first of two legs for pacing colts and fillies. Three filly divisions will go postward as races two, four and seven, while a pair of colt divisions are carded as races three and nine.

Post time is 5 p.m.
