Miss U Big Mike breaks pacing track record at Kendallville

Kendallville, IN — The final race of the 16-race card at the Noble County Community Fair on Saturday (July 14) saw the 3-year-old colt pacer Miss U Big Mike (He’s Gorgeous-Ready To Rumba) establish a new overall pacing track record. The gelding’s 2:01.1 mile took two/fifths of a second off the old mark set by Dream Maker in 2007.

Dean King trains Miss U Big Mike for Funk Racing Stable and Charlie K Racing Inc. Noble County native, Mike Peterson, picked up the catch-drive in the record-setting performance.

he combination of owner-trainer Jack Myers and driver Alex Udell (accompanied by his daughter Bryn) made five trips to the winner’s circle during the program. Their wins were with J-S Looney Toon (Big Stick Lindy-Lunar Toon) in 2:12.3 in a 2-year-old filly trot, J-S Swanman (Swan For All-Belville) in 2:11 and J-S Power Chip (Power Play-Off The Wall) in 2:12 in the 2-year-old colt trot, J-S Perfect Cache (Aracache Hanover-Youcanifuwant) in 2:08 in a 2-year-old filly pace, and J S Peyton (Swan For All-Aucune Hanover) in 2:05.2 in a 3-year-old colt trot.

Mike Peterson picked up three other wins on the day in addition to his track record drive. Those wins came with A Remarkable Life (Mark Johnathan-Threads Of Life) in 2:08.1 in a 2-year-old colt pace and Skyway Shockwave (Rockin Image-Sheryl’s Beach Gal) in 2:03.2 and Gorgeous Sandy (He’s Gorgeous-That’s A Partygirl) in 2:06 in the 3-year-old filly pace. All three of those horses are owned by Funk Racing Stable and trained by Dean King.

The combination of Funk Racing Stable and Dean King also had a win with Misty Shooter (Sand Shooter-S F Misty) in 2:08.1 in the second of three divisions of the 2-year-old filly pace. Jay Cross had the winning drive behind Misty Shooter. Cross found the winner’s circle on two other occasions during the day with triumphs with Queens On Fire (Big Stick Lindy-Queen Of Queens) in 2:05.2 in a 3-year-old filly trot and Mickey J (Jailhouse Jesse-Mickey Lavec) in 2:07 in the second division of the 3-year-old colt trot. Merv Schmucker trains Queens On Fire for Rocking Meadows Stable while Jeff Miller trains and co-owns Mickey J with Jeff Batt and W H M Standardbreds.

Matt Rheinheimer piloted two horses to victory on the card, and Jared Seekman and Clint Coy each made one trip to the winner’s circle.

Rheinheimer’s wins came with Swans Honey (Swan For All-BC Honey) in 2:15.2 in a 2-year-old filly trot and Pinecraft Nellie (Guccio-Majic Trend) in 2:10.1 in a 3-year-old filly trot. Rheinheimer is also the trainer of Swans Honey with Justin Stutzman and Ronald Reeder paying the bills. Summit Pacing Acres LLC owns Pinecraft Nellie with Byron Hooley doing the conditioning.

Seekman’s winning drive came in the first division of the 2-year-old filly pace with Watch This Rock (Rockin Image-Safta Perry) in 2:10.3. Joe Seekman trains the filly for Victory Hill Farm Inc. Coy’s win came with Shoot To Win (Sand Shooter-Celestial Hanover) in 2:09 in the first division of the 2-year-old colt pace.

Dean King picked up another training win with Shoot To Win for owner Donald Coy.

A big “hats-off” to Speed Superintendent Frank Morton for putting on a great day of entertainment. A big “thank-you” is in line to Roy and Charlotte Stantz for running the popular “Pick the Winner” contest in the grandstand.
