Anderson, IN — The second round of the Miss Windfall Series, a late closing event open to 3- and 4-year-old Indiana sired fillies and mares that are non-winners of $7,500 lifetime, was contested through three divisions on Tuesday (April 9) at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino.

The fastest of the three divisions went to Mystic Karissa and driver Ricky Macomber, Jr., posting a new lifetime best of 1:54.4. The 3-year-old filly extended her win streak to four as she captured her second win in the late closing action.

Mystic Karissa was a 1:54.4 winner in her division of the Miss Windfall series.

Leaving from post two, Mystic Karissa was shuffled to fifth through opening fractions of :28.2 and :59. Denise’s Patootie and Jeremy Smith called the shots before the heavily favored Shaint To Shabby and Roger Cullipher applied pressure down the backside. Mystic Karissa made her bid to the front through the three-quarters in 1:27.1 before charging home in :27.2 for the win. Always As Fast and Pete Wrenn found late racing room up the rail to get up for the second place finish while Shaint To Shabby held on gamely for third.

Trained by Ron Burke, Mystic Karissa pushed her career earnings over $10,000 for the partnership of Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi, Frank Baldachino and Lawrence Karr.

Annie Sez and driver Pete Wrenn took advantage of a perfect pocket trip to edge out their opponents in the second division of the series. Annie Sez has also made a clean sweep of her divisions in the Miss Windfall series as she is now two for two, elevating her career earnings to $7,500.

Fritzie Chic and Trace Tetrick, the bettors’ choice, called the shots early as Wrenn had his 3-year-old filly in perfect striking position in second. As the field turned for home, Wrenn tipped Annie Sez to the outside and she responded with a :27.3 final panel to win by three parts of a length in a career best time of 1:56.3.

Sired by Artstanding, Annie Sez is trained by John Merkel who also co-owns the filly with Vicky and Michael Merkel.

In the final division of the late closing action, Sam Widger guided JD’s Infinite Lady to the winner’s circle en route to her maiden breaking victory in 1:55.3. Trained by Dan Perdue, the 3-year-old filly made a powerful move around the final turn to win by 2-1/2 lengths over ER Monica and Don Eash.

Sired by Panspacificflight, JD’s Infinite Lady is owned by Diamond Dp Standardbreds.

The top ten point earners in each leg of the series will return for the $15,000 Miss Windfall series final, slated for Tuesday (April 16) at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino.

Live racing at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino will follow a Tuesday through Saturday schedule. With a daily post time of 5:30 p.m., the all harness racing meet will run through Nov. 9.
