Monticello adds August 14 card for ‘Back to the Track’

by John Manzi, publicity director, Monticello Raceway

Monticello, NY — Monticello Raceway has added a special Saturday night racing program on August 14 to coincide with the industry-wide “Back to the Track” promotion.

“With the permission of the NYS Racing & Wagering Board we added a special Saturday program to be part of the Back to the Track national harness racing promotion,” said Mighty M assistant general manager, Shawn Wiles. “We don’t usually have live racing on the weekends but to be a part of the nationwide promo is of utmost importance.”

On that night Monticello Raceway will hope to bring back the former faithful and will be offering a plethora of enticements to do so. Among the offerings will be a free all expense paid trip in late September to the world famous Little Brown Jug, in Delaware, Ohio, which with 50,000 fans annually is the biggest and most attended harness race in North America.

Besides exciting harness racing the Mighty M is also offering to those who attend that evening free “Back to the Track” t-shirts (while supplies last) and a special handicapping seminar by the raceway’s outstanding handicapper, Catskill Steve.

And that night, too, an exclusive Inter-Track wager referred to as the “Dueling Doubles” will be instituted. The object will be to pick the winners of selected races at both the Mighty M and Tioga Downs.

The Mighty M race card on Saturday, August 14, will get underway at 7 p.m.
