MSOA to offer nearly $32,000 in collegiate scholarships

Washington, PA — The Meadows Standardbred Owners Association is now accepting applications for its collegiate scholarships, in what will be the richest offering in program history.

Nearly $32,000 in scholarships will be offered by the MSOA and its partners this year.

A new addition to the list is the $10,000 Bob Key Memorial Scholarship, named in honor of the late Bob Key, a longtime owner and breeder known nationally but based at The Meadows.

The $6,200 Betting Line Scholarship is the result of money raised through an online auction of a 2021 breeding to Betting Line, donated by Hanover Shoe Farm.

The MSOA Board of Directors are offering a $5,000 scholarship, and the Burke Racing Stable is also donating $5,000 for a scholarship this year.

Longtime MSOA partner CSC Insurance Options is offering $2,500 in scholarship money, while Winbak Farm’s donation of a Heston Blue Chip breeding garnered $2,200 for a scholarship.

Hollywood Casino at The Meadows is also offering a $1,000 scholarship, bringing the overall total to $31,900.

“We can’t thank our partners enough,” said MSOA President Rich Gillock. “We’ve been very happy with our offerings in past years, but this year everyone has gone above and beyond to make sure this program is successful. At a time when it’s needed the most, everyone has come together to support our scholarships.”
