Dover, DE — Muscle Dynasty ($5.80) muscled his way to a 1:55.2 victory in Tuesday night’s (Jan. 2) $25,000 Open Handicap Trot at Bally’s Dover.
That Ole Bar Stool rocketed to the top and grabbed the early lead, trotting the opening quarter in :27.3 while 9-5 favorite Muscle Dynasty was parked after leaving from post eight. With a lap to go, That Ole Bar Stool stubbornly surrendered the lead to Muscle Dynasty, who led the field to the half in :57.
Black Hope, who lost his cover when Muscle Dynasty cleared, was forced to race first-over up the backstretch and advanced to engage Muscle Dynasty in a duel to three-quarters in 1:25.4. In the stretch, That Ole Bar Stool danced along the pylons, and Black Hope continued to pressure Muscle Dynasty in a flash photo to the wire. Muscle Dynasty held on to win by a nose in 1:55.2 for driver Corey Callahan, trainer Walter Callahan and owner Frank Chick. That Ole Bar Stool was second; Black Hope was third.
The feature win was one of six on the card for Corey Callahan.
