Museum seeking venues for ‘A Drive to Win’

from the Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame

Goshen, NY — The Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame is seeking venues to display its new free traveling exhibit, “A Drive to Win,” which is the story of 27 harness racing heroes, drivers and trainers who made every race possible, but through circumstance, choice, design or fate, did not rise to stardom.

The Museum will book showings of the award-winning presentation at racetracks, local art galleries, colleges, schools, and shopping centers.

The message of the exhibit is clear: Through adversity, the one shining element is their love of and commitment to their sport. The exhibit introduces the joys and the heartaches of the exciting and historic sport of harness racing, and explains why these wonderful human beings had such a drive to win.

Those saluted in the exhibit are Angus Allen, Richard Baker, Hugh Allison Bell, Edwin Bather, Harry Burright, Vernon Crank, Harold R. Dancer, Norman Dauplaise, Alfred “Bucky” Day, Bea Farber, George Forshey, Hilda Heydt, Maxie Lee, Joe Lighthill, Howard Parker, George Phalen, Jimmy and Robbie Rankin, Ervin Samples, Forrest Short, Phyllis Smith Page, Harold Snodgrass, Colby Turner, Sacher Werner, John “Tic” Wilcutts, Lew Williams, and Mildred Williams.

This free opportunity is brought to you by Hanover Shoe Farms and the members of the Harness Racing Museum, which asks help in bringing harness racing to the nation.
