Dover, DE — Muskateer Hanover won wire-to-wire in the $25,000 Open Handicap Pace at Bally’s Dover on Thursday night (Jan. 15), scoring his third consecutive victory.
Muskateer Hanover fired off the wings of the starting gate first and never looked back. Dale Yeah landed in the pocket ,and the remaining pacers grabbed seats approaching the first turn.
Muskateer Hanover, the 5-2 favorite, sprinted clear through the :27.1 opening quarter. The field remained in a single-file lineup as Muskateer Hanover hustled to the half in :55.2.
Steven’s Saloon moved to the outside up the backstretch and ground first-over into the chilly Dover air. Wehadababyetzaboy followedwith a gapping second-over try. Dale Yeah remained in the pocket.
Muskateer Hanover and the parked Steven’s Saloon were eyeball to eyeball reaching the three-quarters in 1:22.4.
At the top of the stretch, Muskateer Hanover held a confident lead to the wire and won by a half length in 1:51. Dale Yeah remained in the pocket and finished second. Steven’s Saloon was third.
Muskateer Hanover, owned by Mulligan Stables and Calcutta Stable, trained by Jason Johnson and driven by Allan Davis, paid $7.40 to win.
Tim Tetrick won five races on the 13-race card.
