Foreclosure N is preparing for what could be a lucrative sophomore season.

The Mark Steacy-trained colt had a solid freshman campaign with a lifetime record of five wins, one second and two third-place finishes in 11 starts, with a bankroll of C$236,907 for owner Peter Heffering of Port Perry.

In the fourth qualifier, the 3-year-old pacer got away second, behind the other N.A. Cup eligible, Arsenal (Luc Ouellette). Foreclosure N dropped to third when Odysseus Bluechip (Mario Baillargeon) took the lead at the half. Into the turn, driver Sylvain Filion pulled Foreclosure N to the outside and took the lead in the stretch and won by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:55.1.

Steacy was pleased with how his colt qualified, but was disappointed in the final time.

“I think he went real well,” said the Lansdowne resident. “I was talking with Sylvain and he was very happy with him. He paced strong through the wire, there is a little wind coming up the stretch too. I was hoping for a little faster qualifier.”

The New Zealand bred was in tip-top shape for his first charted lines of the 2011 season. The conditioner explained the colt had to face a few obstacles during a winter layoff.

“He trained well, but he had a couple bumps in the road,” Steacy said. “He got a little sick a couple of times in the spring, which got him behind a few weeks, but he has been really good the last few weeks.”

Steacy admits he is worried about Foreclosure N’s small stature. “I would be lying if I said I wasn’t,” he stated. “His size does concern me some, but he is a blocky horse and he’s got a good stride on him. I think what’s inside is more important than how big he is on the outside.”

After one qualifying session, the son of Rocknroll Hanover-Pleasing Package A is ready for the entry box.

“I think we better get him into a race and get him a little more prepped up,” said Steacy, who believes Foreclosure N has the talent to challenge N.A. Cup favorite Big Jim. “Qualifiers aren’t the same. We want to go into the Somebeachsomewhere Stakes in two weeks, so hopefully we can get a race for him next Saturday.”

Other qualifying winners include:

Lilia Axe 1:56.3
Taxi Fare Hanover 1:57.2
First Flower 2:01.2
Aled Hanover 1:54.4
