Yonkers, NY – Joe Faraldo, president of the North American Amateur Drivers Association (NAADA), announced today two donations of $2,500 each, one to Sunshine Horses Inc., a 501(c)(3) entity that is a rescue facility and adoption agency founded in 2003.
Sunshine Horses has become a Standardbred Transition Alliance (STA) vetted and certified aftercare facility located in Clay, N.Y.
“It is indeed a pleasure to help Sunshine Horses Inc. and any other organizations the STA certifies, as NAADA has done in the past. The NAADA membership, comprised of harness racing’s most ardent supporters and competitors, is again pleased to make such a contribution to those devoted to providing much needed aftercare to our most treasured asset – the horse,” said Faraldo.
In addition, NAADA Vice President Alan Schwartz, himself a former active duty Marine, singled out once again the good works of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation 501(c)(3) as an entity very worthy of NAADA’s support and provided a grant of another $2,500 to this Foundation.
According to Schwartz, “The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has been helping America’s heroes by proving mortgage-free homes to top Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children and by building specially-adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders. The foundation’s good works in eradicating veteran homelessness is helping America to never forget Sept. 11, 2001.”
NAADA’s harness racing community will continue to make such contributions within and beyond our industry. We encourage others to join and support STA certified organizations with the knowledge that these entities will provide dedicated care for our retired horses. A list of such entities appears on the STA’s website. STA is now under the capable stewardship of USTA Director Don G. Marean.
