Yonkers, NY – The North American Amateur Drivers Association (NAADA) has announced that it will donate a total of $5,000 to two worthy causes, the American Cancer Society (ACS) and New Vocations (NV). The organizations will each receive $2,500, per a recommendation made by Alan Schwartz, Vice President of NAADA.
The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer. Since its beginnings in 1946, the ACS provides support and guidance at every step to people impacted by cancer. NAADA previously donated to ACS at the request of one of its drivers, Andrew Adamczyk, in memory of his late father, who succumbed to the disease.
Another previous recipient of NAADA support is New Vocations, headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky. New Vocations endeavors to rehabilitate, retrain, and rehome retired racehorses, and is the nation’s largest racehorse adoption program. Four NV locations – three in Ohio and one in New York – work with Standardbreds with the goal of placing them where they will thrive. NV is accredited by the Standardbred Transition Alliance, and, like ACS, is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) operation.
“While New Vocations has only been at its good works since 1992, it is recognized as a national leader in the rehabilitation, retraining and ultimate rehoming of horses to qualified and loving adopters”, said Joe Faraldo NAADA President. “New Vocations has transitioned 9,000 retired racehorses, both Thoroughbred and Standardbred, to date. NAADA is once again pleased to repeat its donation to this very, very worthwhile organization and hopes others will do the same.”
