NJ horsemen working with track to strengthen Meadowlands racing

East Rutherford, NJ — Meadowlands horsemen met with track operators on Monday to discuss ways to adapt the racing product in the face of competition from neighboring tracks whose purse money is bolstered by other forms of gaming.

The meeting, which had a strong turnout from trainers and owners, was led by SBOANJ President Tom Luchento, Meadowlands Racing Secretary Peter Koch and Brittany Farms Racing Manager Myron Bell.

“It was a very productive meeting,” Luchento said. “The horsemen are clearly willing to help in working to make things better for everyone involved in the sport – the owners, track operators and horseplayers.”
