Toronto, ON — The Woodbine Entertainment Group would like to remind all owners, horsemen and horsewomen that nominations for the circuit’s major 3-year-old stakes in the 2007 season are due on February 15. Nominations for the “Fabulous Four” 2-year-old events are also due February 15.
In regards to 3-year-olds, nominations are due for the 24th edition of the C$1.5 million (guaranteed) Pepsi North America Cup for Open pacers; the C$1 million (guaranteed) Canadian Trotting Classic for Open trotters; the C$709,000 (estimated) Fan Hanover Stakes for pacing fillies; the C$560,000 (estimated) Elegantimage Stakes for trotting fillies; and the C$280,000 (estimated) Goodtimes Stakes for Open trotters.
Woodbine Entertainment would also like to remind everyone that the Pepsi North America Cup and the Elegantimage Stakes, which have been raced at Woodbine, will be taking place at Mohawk this year.
Nominations are also due on the 15th for the C$300,000 Burlington Stakes and the C$225,000 Casual Breeze Trot, which will be raced in divisions. The Burlington is for Open pacers, while the Casual Breeze is for trotting fillies.
Along with the high-end stakes, nominations are also due on the 15th for multiple three-week series. They include the Spring Pacing Championships (for 4-year-old and older horses), the Youthful Pacing Series, the Diplomat Pacing Series, the Tie Silk Trotting Series, the Princess Pacing Series and The Celia’s Counsel Trotting Series.
The 2007 campaign will also mark the return of the “Fabulous Four” Stakes for 2-year-olds, which is comprised of the Governor’s Cup (Open pace – C$600,000 estimated final), Three Diamonds (Filly pace – C$500,000 estimated final), Valley Victory (Open Trot – C$500,000 estimated final) and the Goldsmith Maid (Filly trot – C$500,000 estimated final).
