Vernon, NY — Vernon Downs welcomes two divisions of the New York Sire Stakes for freshman trotting fillies on Thursday (Aug. 23). Both divisions will race for a purse of $56,500.
In the first division, Hanna Dreamgirl (Jim Morril Jr.) is the 5-2 morning line choice. Owned by Ken Jacobs and trained by Linda Toscano, the 2-year-old filly by Chapter Seven-Ships Express has been on the board in all seven of her starts. Her most impressive showing was a third place finish in the Jim Doherty Memorial at The Meadowlands on Aug. 4. Her lone win came in a leg of the Kindergarten Classic at the Meadowlands in July.
The second morning line choice is Safe Word (Jeff Gregory) at 7-2. She is owned by William Richardson, Martin Garey, Henry Wieseneck and trainer Gregory. The filly by Credit Winner-Fifty Shades has two wins and two seconds in four starts. She captured legs of the NYSS at Yonkers and Buffalo.
In the second division of the NYSS for the freshman fillies, Conway Kellyanne is the 5-2 morning line choice. Trained and driven by Charlie Norris for owners Carrie Norris, Acadia Farms Inc., and G&B Racing, she is a 2-year-old by Conway Hall-Pacific Centerfold. She is three-for-five in her young career. Her victories were all in legs of the NYSS. She won at Yonkers on July 3 and on Aug. 13. She also won a leg at Batavia.
Quincy Blue Chip (Jim Morrill Jr.) is the second choice at 7-2. The filly by Chapter Seven-Sirenuse is owned by Blue Chip Bloodstock Inc. and trained by Gareth Dowse. Her three victories were all in legs of the NYSS as well. She got her wins at Yonkers, Batavia, and Tioga.
The nine-race Thursday card starts at 6:10 p.m.
