NYSS freshman pacers invade Vernon on Saturday

Vernon, NY — Vernon Downs will play host to two divisions of the New York Sire Stakes for 2-year-old pacing fillies as well as a single division for 2-year-old colts and geldings on Saturday (Aug. 12).

Camerican (Joe Bongiorno) looks to be the one to beat in the $52,500 first division for fillies. The American Ideal-Camille miss is trained by Ron Burke and has been established as the 7-5 morning line favorite. In five starts she has two wins and three seconds. She has NYSS wins at Buffalo and Yonkers.

Edward Hart trains Blue Point (Jason Bartlett), the 5-2 second morning line choice in the first division. The Huntsville-Amber Blue Chip filly has a NYSS win at Saratoga.

Leanne’s Choice (Marcus Miller) is the 5-2 morning line choice in the $53,500 second fillies division. The Courtly Choice-Village Madonna filly is trained by Erv Miller. She has a NYSS win at Saratoga.

The Chris Ryder trained Peace Talks (Bartlett) should be the major challenger as the 3-1 second morning line choice in the second division. The American Ideal-Triple V Hanover lass has a win and two thirds in four starts. She picked up a NYSS win at Yonkers.

Huntingforchrome (Joe Bongiorno) has been listed as the 5-2 morning line choice in the $110,100 NYSS for 2-year-old colts and geldings. The Huntsville-All On Top Hanover gelding is trained by Jennifer Bongiorno. He has two wins in three lifetime starts, getting a Kindergarten Series win at The Meadowlands and a NYSS win at Saratoga.

Boston Rocks (Bartlett) should be his major competition. The Boston Red Rocks-Scirocco Sarah colt has NYSS wins at Batavia, Buffalo, and Monticello. He is trained by Mike Deters.
