Monticello, NY – The Swan Song for the 2025 New York Sire Stakes program at Monticello Raceway will be heard when the last leg of Sire Stakes for 2-year-old filly pacers occurs on Monday (Aug. 25). On tap are two heats of Sire Stakes worth $52,500 each and two $20,000 divisions of the Excelsior Series.
The first NYSS division, charted as race two, is a five-horse contest. Odd On Enigma (PP2-Matt Kakaley) has been installed the 5-2 morning-line favorite. She has one NYSS win to her resume with a score earlier in the year at Vernon Down, where she earned her speed badge of 1:54.2. The Huntsville offspring is trained by Scott DiDomenico and has earned $66,870 going into this contest. Trainer Roland Mallar brings his Miss Genie Mae (PP3-Jason Bartlett) to the fray. she is seeking her second Sire Stakes blanket of the season.
The second split of Sire Stakes (race eight) pits the No. 1 and No. 2 point-earners in the division against each other. Odds On Monetary (PP4-Kakaley) is the top point-earner and sports an impressive body of work with three Sire Stake wins and two place finishes for trainer Travis Alexander. She has a two-race win streak, with victories at Batavia and Saratoga, to go with an earlier Sire Stake win at Vernon Downs. Liberty Style (PP2-Bartlett) scored a win in this class in her last outing at Batavia in 1:55.1. The Huntsville lass is trained by Andrew Stafford.
The Excelsior Series offers two divisions, carded as races four and six, with the first division featuring a bulging field of nine horses. Onaorchardhunt (PP3-Tyler Buter) is looking to extend her win streak to three after victories at Batavia and Sarasota for trainer Nifty Norman. In the other division, Mallar brings the undefeated Patriot Miss (PP1-Buter), an American Ideal filly who is a perfect five-for-five. She has earned $50,000 thus far this season.
