Ohio fair racing held in Napoleon, Ohio

Napoleon, OH — The sky cleared up in mid-afternoon on Tuesday (August 14) and provided a beautiful evening of harness racing and Trottingbred racing at the Henry County Fair in Napoleon, Ohio. Seven harness races were complemented with five Trottingbred races to give the enthusiastic crowd an enjoyable evening of entertainment.

Ben Ott’s Here Comes Smokey (Stand Forever-Midnight Bonfire) picked up his first lifetime win in capturing the 2-year-old colt pace. Tom Marts, Jr. trains the colt with Greg Bateson picking up the winning catch-drive. Here Comes Smokey circled the Napoleon twice-around in 2:05.2.

Jay Weller guided Scratch Off (Royal Strength-Im A Cricket Too) to victory in the 3-year-old colt trot. Jayne Weller owns and trains the gelding who trotted the mile in 2:07.2.

Lovintouchinfeelin (Feelin Friskie-Western Touch) took the 2-year-old filly pace in 2:04.3. Bill Webb trains the filly and also co-owns her with Denny Miller. Mark Headworth was the winning driver on Lovintouchinfeelin.

Mark Headworth also picked up the winning drive in the 3-year-old filly trot behind Screamin Dreamin (Ilooklikemymom-Flowing Judy). Ray Sugg trains the filly with Amrheinsracingstablellc picking up the expenses. Screamin Dreamin toured the Henry County Fair oval in 2:07.

Under Rated turned in the fastest Trottingbred race of the evening by pacing a half-mile in 1:01. Arnold and Robin Manders of Warwick, Bermuda, own the stallion with Eric Raber doing the training and driving. Under Rated’s half-mile time was faster than any half-miles turned in by Standarbreds on the evening’s program.

Harness racing concludes at the Henry County Fair Wednesday with a ten-race Standardbred program. Post time for the first race will be 6:30 p.m.
