Ohio fair season begins

Paulding, OH — The Ohio fair season got underway Wednesday night (June 12) at the Paulding County Fair in Paulding. Seven harness races along with four Trottingbred races made up the evening’s card.

Cookie N Ice Cream (Fortunefivehundred-Missy Chip) won the first race in the history of Ohio fair racing to race for VLT money by capturing the 2-year-old filly trot. John Payne is the owner-trainer-driver of the filly, which toured the Paulding oval in 2:13.1.

The 3-year-old colt pace went to Melissa LeVan’s Hanky L (Stand Forever-Sheer Sahbra) in 2:01. Herb LeVan trains the gelding with Jack Dailey doing the driving.

Trottin On Over (Neely Dunn-Halle Coy) came home first in the 3-year-old colt trot after a mile in 2:05.4. Mark Headworth is the trainer-driver of Trottin On Over with Emil Konesky paying the bills.

Mean Fever (Indian Fever-Mean Geraldine) was victorious in the 2-year-old filly pace for owner-trainer Bill Webb. Robert Dinning piloted the winning filly to a mile in 2:05.3.

Racing concludes Thursday (June 13) with a nine-race card comprised of all harness races. Post time for the first race is 6 p.m.
