Ohio State Fair racing held at Scioto Downs

Columbus, OH — Thursday night (July 27) at Scioto Downs brought in three divisions of Ohio State Fair Stakes for 2-year-old filly pacers and trotters.

The three divisions of pacing races went for total purses of $141,000 and the trotting races consisted of a $126,000 total purse amount.

The first race of the evening kicked of the first division of pacers, as 10 very talented 2-year olds lined up behind the gate. Bad Girls Rule (Dan Noble) took the early lead over the rest of the field. She held her lead to a gate-to-wire win in 1:54. This is Bad Girls Rule’s third win of the season for trainer Jim Dailey and owner 3rd Floor Stables.

The second race brought together nine fillies to start the first division of trotters. Driver Aaron Merriman brought filly Red Storm her first win of the season going 1:57.2, which became her new lifetime best. This filly won for trainer Christopher Beaver and owner Sandra S Burnett.

Destarofnight took the win in the second division of trotters and stopped the clock at 1:58.2 for her first win of the season with Chris Page in the bike. She is trained by Ron Burke and owned by Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemni and J&T Silva Stables.

In the third and final division of trotters for the night, Looking For Zelda (Tony Hall) got a gate-to-wire win for owner Robert J Key out of Leechburg, Pa. in 1:57.1. Looking for Zelda is trained by Norm Parker.

The seventh race showcased the second division of pacers, where Ask Me If I Care was the star of the race winning in 1:54.4. This was her first win of the year and new lifetime best. Driver/trainer Mike Micallef was behind this quick 2-year-old for owners, Anita B Micallef and Libby A Meyers.

The final Ohio State Fair race of the evening was the last division of pacers, where Kayne Kauffman pulled of the third win of the year for Prsntpretynperfect. Kauffman lowered this filly’s new lifetime best to 1:54.1. Prsntpretynperfect is owned by Jennifer K Brown, Richard M Lombardo and Joshua L Green.

The next night of Ohio State Fair racing will take place on Saturday (July 29) for the 2-year old colts. There will be four divisions for the pacers and three for the trotters.The post time for this event will be 6:30 p.m.

The Ohio State Fair racing will also continue on Friday (Aug. 4) as the 3-year-old pacing and trotting fillies will go head-to-head.

Then the final night of fair racing will showcase the 3-year-old colts for both trotters and pacers. The final night of the fair will concluded on Saturday (Aug. 5). The post times for both days will be 6:30 p.m.
