Ottawa County Fair opens two-day meet

Oak Harbor, OH — The Ottawa County Fair at Oak Harbor, Ohio opened up its two-day meet with eight races on Monday, July 19.

Skip Miller’s Trottin Brooke (Pegasus Spur-Bueno Sahbra) took the fastest division of the 2-year-old filly trot in 2:12.1. Mark Headworth drove the filly for trainer Chad Williamson. Trainer-driver Jim Burris captured the other split with Striking Success (North Pine-Sunny Kate) in 2:14.1. Burris co-owns Striking Success with Michael Lee.

Our Little Filly (Towner’s Big Guy-Two-Fifty-Seven) found the winner’s circle in the lone division of the 2-year-old filly pace. Trainer-driver Tony Marts guided the filly to a mile in 2:02.2 for owner Ben Ott.

Ed Greeno, Jr. guided Sublime Begonia (Master Lavec-Spritely Begonia) to a win in the fastest division of the 3-year-old filly trot with a mile in 2:02.4. The filly’s owners are EG Trot LLC and John Arnold with Ed Greeno, Sr. doing the training. The other split went to I’m Over The Top (Victory Sam-Thewaitisover) for trainer-driver Greg Bateson. Bateson co-owns the filly with Bill Stout. The winning time for I’m Over The Top was 2:06.4.

The Bill Webb-trained Cruisin N Surfin (Yankee Cruiser-Channel Surfer) proved victorious in the fastest division of the 3-year-old filly pace with a mile in 1:59.4. Mark Headworth picked up the winning drive with D and K Stables LLC paying the bills. Ryan Stahl steered Michello (Full Of Fun-Lady Laney) to a win in the other split for owner-trainer Alan Smith. Michello toured the Oak Harbor oval in 2:01.3.

This Sands Hot needed a mile in 2:00 to capture his third consecutive Gordon Witty Trot, which is a part of the Signature Series. John Konesky III is the gelding’s trainer-driver with his wife Maryann being the owner.

Harness racing concludes Tuesday evening, July 20, at the Ottawa County Fair with a nine-race program. Post time for the first race is 6 p.m.
