Breeders Crown notebook
Nancy Takter has won 12 Breeders Crowns, and her first two trophies came courtesy of filly pacer JK She’salady and colt pacer Captain Crunch. On Friday (Oct. 23), she will go for a Crown with a daughter of those two award-winning horses. Plus an additional look at some other horses and races this weekend.

All drivers and horses are required to be in the paddock 30 minutes before their race. Qualifiers start at 10 a.m. and run off every 10 minutes.
Batavia Downs “Harness of Hope” to benefit Roswell Park Saturday
On Saturday (Oct. 24) night, Batavia Downs will host “Harness of Hope,” a fundraiser to help cancer research at the world-renowned Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, who is the track’s official live racing sponsor each year.
Two carryovers and a $5,000 guaranteed Pick-5 pool at Batavia Downs Saturday
After no one hit the Pick-5 at Batavia Downs on Thursday (Oct. 22), there is a $1,149 carryover pool for that wager in the first race on Saturday (Oct. 24) and the management of Batavia Downs has announced that the pool will be guaranteed at $5,000 through the United States Trotting Association’s Strategic Wagering program.
