With the conclusion of the $1 million Hambletonian 100 celebration, which set industry-wide handle and attendance records on Aug. 2 at The Meadowlands in East Rutherford, N.J., the Hambletonian Society Board of Directors is now turning its attention to the future of the sport’s most prestigious race.

It was an exciting evening of action at The Red Mile on Sunday (Sept. 14) for the eight $400,000 Kentucky Championship Series finals, with Looksgoodinloulou, Ubrute, Country Glide, Yo Tillie, Topville Lucky, Endurance, Super Chapter and Sippinonsearoc coming away with titles.

Yogi Sheridan and Charles Longo both reached the line in time to snag victories in their respective $7,500 divisions of the American Harness Drivers Club paces at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Sunday (Sept. 14).

Running Aces hosted the top-level trotters on Sunday night (Sept. 14) with a field of seven taking on the $17,000 Open Handicap as well as two divisions of the Minnesota-sired sophomore trotters highlighting the program.

Southbeach Volo – a 4-year-old trotter sired by Bar Hopping – surprisingly won the Norwegian Trotting Derby driven by Björn Steine. Five horses were almost in line at the finish, but it was Southbeach Volo on the outside that came first.

Driver Luke Ebersole earned his 1,000th career driving win on Sunday (Sept. 14) at MGM Northfield Park.

The Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association (OHHA) will kick off day two of “Five Days in Delaware” on Monday morning (Sept. 15), with Trackside Live and special guests Cam and Jessica McCown followed by the live draw for Thursday’s (Sept. 18) Little Brown Jug.

Downbytheseaside fillies won all four $20,000 divisions of the fifth leg of the Buckeye Stallion Series for freshman filly pacers on Sunday (Sept. 14) in the 20-race card on the opening day of the Delaware County Fair meet in Delaware, Ohio.
