To no one’s surprise, the heavyweights in the four sophomore divisions of the Maine Sire Stakes took home the championship belts in their respective $100,000-plus finals on Saturday (Oct. 11) at Bangor Raceway. 

Heinikin Bythebay conquered the raceway by the river on Saturday (October 11), scoring top honors in the $25,000 Fred Nichols Invitational during the Maine Sire Stakes Championships card at Bangor Raceway. 

The Buckeye State’s county fair season came to a close on Saturday (Oct. 11) with $50,000 Ohio Fairs Championships at MGM Northfield Park. Driver Aaron Merriman won two of the four divisions of pacers, guiding Racing Artist and Downbytheparade to victory.

The 7-year-old French gelding, Inexess Bleu, driven by Alexandre Abrivard, is a seasoned winner. Before Saturday’s (Oct. 11) UET Elite Circuit Final at Solvalla. He had already claimed 20 wins in 51 starts. Now, Inexess Bleu has 21 wins, as he finished strongly to defeat Sweden’s Don Fanucci Zet, winning in 1:52.2f (mile rate). The winner’s purse was $295,000.

The weather was bad, the track was off, and the competition came to play. But Natameri had all the answers on Saturday (Oct. 11) and won the featured $12,500 Open Handicap pace in spite of it all.
