Sophomores head to Eldorado Scioto Downs to take on the final day of Ohio State Fair Stakes on Saturday (Aug. 3). Pacing colts and fillies as well as trotting colts will highlight the card.

Several of the six fillies in the $16,171 Maine Sire Stakes for 2-year-old pacing fillies tried valiantly, but none could reel in wire-to-wire winner Chasing Dudes on Friday (Aug. 2) at Cumberland Raceway. 

Six divisions of Ohio State Fair races went postward Friday (Aug. 2) at Eldorado Scioto Downs. After  two track records were set for older horses, Swingtown and Chris Page set a national season’s record for 2-year-old pacing colts on a five-eighths-mile track, winning his $87,500 Buckeye State Pace in 1:50.4.

A 40-minute delay before the start of the program due to intense thunderstorms, another 40-minute delay due to an inquiry involving several horses, and, finally, a power outage that knocked out a portion of the lights as a result of all of the rain that fell just as the 10th race was heading to the gate, made for a tough Friday night (Aug. 2) at The Meadowlands.

The skies opened up before the first post on Friday night (Aug. 2) at The Meadowlands and delayed the start of the card by about an hour. That didn’t stop the hottest driver on the amateur circuit from winning both Hambletonian Amateur Drivers trotting events on the card.

In The Spotlight N (Marcus Miller) cruises to an easy win in the $10,000 featured fillies & mares’ pace on Friday (Aug. 2).

Marauder Seelster (Ivan Davies) shocks the field in the $5,500 featured trot at Vernon Downs on Friday (Aug. 2).

Misty Coast came from the pocket to catch Square Deal and win the $14,000 featured handicap pace for females in 1:51 at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Friday (Aug. 2) afternoon.
