When assistant race secretary Andrew Topham was sweeping up old tote tickets on the apron following the opening day of First Tracks Cumberland’s inaugural meet in May 2021, he had no idea that he would be an integral part of the facility’s daily operations just 24 months later.
State Fair Races at Scioto Downs
Eldorado Scioto Downs will host 19 divisions of the Ohio State Fair races this weekend, Thursday-Saturday (Aug. 3-5). Horse racing was held at the Ohio State Fairgrounds from the late 1860s through 1984. In 1985, the State Fair races moved to Scioto. The Ohio State Fair runs through Sunday (Aug. 6).

HHYF receives donation in honor of Chris Wittstruck
The Harness Horse Youth Foundation recently received a significant donation honoring one of the industry’s hardest working good guys, Chris Wittstruck, an SOA of NY director, pension trustee and USHWAN.
