Lexington, KY — A pair of $104,400 divisions of the Bluegrass Series for three-year-old filly trotters were in the spotlight on Friday afternoon (October 1) at The Red Mile.
In the opening division, Status Stables Inc.’s Habit’s Lady rallied in deep stretch to reach the wire first in a lifetime best mile of 1:54.2. Trainer Trond Smedshammer was in the sulky as the daughter of Muscles Yankee posted her initial 2004 score in five trips to the post. Her share of the purse lifted her season’s earnings to $54,200.
There was a dead heat for second between Self Indulgent (David Miller) and Shannon Hall (Michel Lahance). Ivy Swinger (Eric Ledford) and Have You Ever (Ron Pierce) rounded out the top five.
Sent postward as a relative longshot, Habit’s Lady paid $28.80 to win.
