Freehold, NJ — Ticket To Glide and Franks ‘N Beans won their respective $35,000 finals of the New Jersey Sires Stakes Green Acres series at Freehold Raceway on Tuesday.
In the division for two-year-old trotting fillies, Paul Kinnear, Douglas Hutchins and Joseph King’s Ticket To Glide scored a 1:59.2 victory with Cat Manzi in the sulky. The daughter of Yankee Glide led from the midway point of the mile and finished one and one-half lengths ahead of Color Coded (Jeff Gregory). It was another three and one-quarter lengths farther back to Teola (Perry Simser), who finished third.
The Green Acres victory was the fourth win in six career outings for Ticket To Glide. The Joe King-conditioned filly returned $2.60 as the 3-10 favorite in the wagering.
The division for juvenile colts and geldings was taken by Alfred Ross’s Franks ‘N Beans. The Enjoy Lavec colt trotted the mile in a Green Acres record time of 2:00.4 with Jeff Gregory at the reins and finished one and three-quarter lengths in front. Yankee Slugfest (Jim Doherty), who had led until being overtaken by the winner entering the final turn, held on for the place spot, one-half length ahead of the third place finisher, Armbro Copenhagen (Jim Morrill, Jr.).
Franks ‘N Beans recorded his second career win in 10 starts as he captured his division of the Green Acres. The trainee of Karen Garland rewarded his supporters with a win mutuel of $7.20.
