Pair of track records go into books at Meadville, PA Fair

Meadville, PA — The Crawford County Fairgrounds in Meadville, Pennsylvania kicked off its annual four-day fair meet on Monday (August 22).

Two $6,033 divisions of the PA Sire Stake 2-year-old colt trot opened the day, and Ibanez, a gelding by Wonder Dancer, won the first division with a 2:08 effort. Winston Lineweaver drove the winner for his wife, trainer Eileen, who co-owns with Ellen Warren.

In the second division, hometown horse Sharpshooter G, owned by the Dunn Stable and trained by Boots Dunn, scored in 2:06.3 Roger Hammer drove the Broadway Hall gelding. The mile equaled the track record for freshman trotting colts.

The Dunn Stable then captured the first $5,994 division of the 2-year-old filly trot, as Desired Outcome scored in 2:07.1, a new track record for freshman filly trotters. Hammer was in the bike behind the Tom Ridge filly.

In the second division, the Dunn Stable made it three straight, as Cannot Tell A Lie (Glidemaster) trotted in 2:09.2. Chris Shaw picked up the winning catch-drive.

Two divisions of the Quaker Trot were also carded, with victories earned by Baron (Anastasia Baron) and Side Ways (SJ’s Caviar). Bill Daugherty drove Baron to a 2:13.1 win for owner/trainer Joe Urban, while Steve Schoeffel guided Side Ways to a 2:09.2 win for trainer Terry Altmeyer, who co-owns with Laura Oldin.

In overnight action, Trickle Hanover, driven by Brady Brown, won the first division of the Free-For-All Pace in 2:03.1, while Rockabella and Hammer won the second division in 2:03.2.
