Bob Pandolfo offers his picks for the $50,000 Pick-4 at Meadowlands Racetrack on May 11, part of the U.S. Trotting Association Strategic Wagering Program.
Meadowlands Pick-4, Races 6-9, Friday, May 11, 2012
I didn’t hit Saturday night, minus $18, which brings the total to minus $81 for the new meet. For the championship meet I’m going to try more realistic, and more creative, tickets to see how that works out but be forewarned that even with much more of a spread, it’s still hard to hit a Pick-4 at this track.
$1 play: 56/2/125/123 = $18
Analysis:
Race 6: I’m using two horses, (5) Full Picture and (6) Rub Thing, the two probable first and second choices.
Race 7: (2) She Wears It Well is my best bet tonight. She went evenly in return race and should be set for a top try with a key driver change to Ron Pierce tonight.
Race 8: Tough race here and one that bettors will want to spread in Pick-4s. I used three, (1) Jezzy, (2) Don’t Know Chip and (5) Beatgoeson Hanover, but that leaves off several quality trotters that have a chance.
Race 9: Another wide open trot here. My top pick is (2) Opening Night off a key drop. If I were going to play a small ticket I’d single this one, but I used (3) The Chancellor, who missed by a nose off the layoff last time, and (1) Coco Lindy, who steps up sharp.
