Nichols, NY — Driver Jim Pantaleano went to the winners circle five times at Tioga Downs on Sunday (June 29).
Pantaleano and trainer Mike Deters (three wins) combined for wins with Mea Culpa A, Parmesan N, and Always B Elvis. Pantaleano got his other wins with Captain Conan and Stonebridge Rex
Orlando Blue A (Mike Merton) captured the featured $13,000 pace.
Fearful Intent (Tyler Miller) was first to the quarter in :26.2. He uses a :28.2 second quarter and led to the half in :54.4. Orlando Blue A ($11.60) made his move going first-over down the backstretch. Fearful Intent had a short lead hitting three-quarters first in 1:22.4.
As they made the turn for home Orlando Blue A took over the lead. Second place finisher Fulsome (Braxten Boyd) made a late bid but Orlando Blue A was too strong and equaled his lifetime best of 1:51.2. Mirragon A (Jim Pantaleano) finished third.
Orlando Blue A is an 8-year-old gelding by Heston Blue Chip. He is owned by the Durazzano Stable and trained by Domenico Leotta. It was his sixth win this season. He now has 25 career victories.
Tioga Downs returns to live racing on Friday (July 4) with a post time of 6:15 p.m. Fireworks will follow live racing.
