Passing Point (inside, Eddie Nickle) holds off Rattlesnake Jake (George Dennis) in Wednesday’s $18,500 Preferred Trot.

Driven by trainer Eddie Nickle, the seven-year-old Lindy Lane stallion sat behind pacesetting Rattlesnake Jake’s fractions of :28.4, :58.3, and 1:28.4. While Roger Hammer’s Shark Kosmos applied heavy pressure first-over, Passing Point found room up the passing lane and won by a half length over Rattlesnake Jake and an off stride Shark Kosmos, who was disqualified. Notorious Buck, at 45-1, was placed third.

The win pushed Passing Point, who has the season’s mark for an older trotting stallion on a half-mile track (1:57.1), over $225,000 in career earnings.

Earlier on the card, Tony Poliseno’s RC Destiny won the first of two divisions of $13,500 winners over trotting events. Driven by Carlo Poliseno, the four-year-old Giant Hit gelding scored a pocket victory in 1:59.4.

In the second division, Fred Hertrich’s Orillia Bam Bam (Brad Hanners, 2:00) made a bold move to get the lead approaching the half-mile marker and held off CR Daddy O and Johnny Peanuts for a one length win.
