Chester, PA — The Pennsylvania Harness Horsemen’s Association is now accepting applications for the 2016 James Manderino Scholarship Fund.
It is open to children of owners, trainers and drivers who are PHHA members and have participated in Pennsylvania harness racing on a regular basis for at least the previous two years. Children of deceased members are also eligible.
Winners will be determined based on academic performance and financial need as well as the extent of their community service and leadership. Enrollment in a curriculum related to the harness racing industry will receive special consideration.
The Manderino Scholarship has been awarded annually since 1993. The amount of the individual awards and number of recipients is determined annually based on the number of qualified applicants and available funds, but the minimum award is $1,000 up to a lifetime maximum of $10,000 per winning student.
To apply, students should download the application package at this link.
All applications must be received by the PHHA before Nov. 4, 2016.
