Pick 6 returns to Meadowlands

East Rutherford, NJ — The Pick 6 returns to the wagering lineup at the Meadowlands on Friday, Jan. 12 with a lower takeout and a guaranteed pool.

The Pick 6 covers races four through nine each night and requires a $1 minimum bet. For 2007, the Pick 6 will have a 20 percent takeout and a guaranteed $10,000 gross pool for winning six-of-six tickets.

“We wanted to take another shot with the Pick 6 and do it right — by lowering the takeout and putting up some guaranteed money,” said Meadowlands Simulcasting Director Alex Dadoyan.

“The reality is we’re creating some possible overlay situations for our bettors,” he explained. “There are going to be nights when we don’t reach that $10,000 guarantee and if someone were to correctly tab six winners, they’d benefit from the money added to the pool. Hopefully that will stir enough interest and give people an incentive to play even on the nights when there is no carryover. Of course, the real fun of the Pick 6 is when there is a big carryover.”

The last full year of the Pick 6 at the Meadowlands was 2005, highlighted by a $235,000 carryover in July that attracted a Pick 6 pool of nearly $450,000.

The Pick 6 will carry a consolation payout every night. If there are no tickets with six correct winners, 25 percent of the pool is paid out as a consolation to those tickets with the most correct winners and 75 percent of the pool is carried over to the next night. If there are winning six-of-six tickets, those winners receive 75 percent of the pool and 25 percent of the pool is paid out to those selecting five of six winners.
