Pocono feature to Reachthruthesky As

Wilkes-Barre, PA — Reachthruthesky AS parlayed a pocket trip into a visit to the Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania winner’s circle on Sunday evening (July 2) when she won the $12,500 featured pace for distaffs in 1:52.1, a new mark despite having to race over a sloppy oval.

The track’s leading driver, Matt Kakaley, hustled the McArdle mare away from the gate from the outside post six and got the pocket, following Kay Sage through early fractions of :27.1 and :56.2. The winner was slightly off of a wicked :27 third quarter duel between the pacesetter and favored first-over Think Of Galaxies, then got closer as the tempo slackened as it inevitably had to, went to the Pocono Pike, and was able to overhaul Kay Sage by 1-1/2 lengths.

Travis Alexander conditions the high-percentage mare (19 wins in 75 career starts) for Robert Di Nozzi.

Marcus Miller brought home three winners on the Sunday card to lead the drivers colony.

Two-year-old trotting males will be featured Monday afternoon in four $30,000 divisions of a Pennsylvania All-Stars event; that card, and the week closing card on Tuesday (July 4), will both begin at 1 p.m. Program pages for all Pocono races are or will be available at the PHHA website.
