Pocono to offer another $60,000 overnight purse

Wilkes-Barre, PA — Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs is getting ready for another massive night of racing action on Friday night (April 29) and a $60,000 purse for the Open Trot. Seven of the most powerful trotters will meet on the track for the 10th race of a 16-race card.

Trainer William Taylor sends Anders Bluestone to Pocono, and he’ll check in as the morning line favorite. The 5-year-old is coming off a win in the Open at Harrah’s Chester on April 22.

Brian Sears picks up the catch drive on Likeabatoutahell from the Trond Smedshammer barn, and he’s looking for his third win of the 2011 season, but he’ll have to watch out for the dynamic Flex The Muscle, who picks up Tim Tetrick again after winning on April 15 at Pocono in the Open. His winning time of 1:52.4 was a new track record for a 4-year-old stallion and was only a fifth of a second off the world record.

Don’t Know Chip from the Rob Harmon Stable comes in from a second place finish in the Open at Vernon Downs and a win in the $74,000 Horse and Groom Series final at the Meadowlands.

The Jimmy Takter-trained In Focus, closing in on $1 million in earnings, has the rail for the race, and is coming off a win in the Open on April 22 at Pocono.

Others hitting the track for the Open Trot will be And Heez Perfect, trained by Robert Baggitt, Jr., and Baby Boy Grin, from the Kimberly Asher barn.
