Pompano Beach, FL — The Florida Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association and Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park are pleased to host Saturday’s (September 10) third leg of the Sunshine State Stakes, with first post at 11:30 a.m. following qualifying and schooling events.
The 13 race, non-betting card kicks off the fall/winter racing season at Pompano Park and features many of the best Florida-sired 2- and 3-year-olds in competition.
Seeking Jeanie (Wesgate Storm-Sightseek), the undefeated (in 11 lifetime starts) 3-year-old trotting filly battles Little Peanut (Wewering-Maia Maia) in race one.
The highest money winning 3-year-olds on the card, Gold Star Glitter (Squaw’s Fella-Squisita) and Famous Hall (Famously-Hall Of Stars), are likely favorites in races four and five for 3-year-old filly pacers and 3-year-old colt trotters, respectively.
Undefeated 2-year-old trotting colt Matcan (Matchem Hanover-Cans Money Maker) goes in race eight for Bruce Ranger and the outstanding sub-1:55 winners Diamond Cowboy, a 2-year-old pacing colt by Six Of Diamonds-Money For Munchkin, and Cracker Coffee, a 2-year-old pacing filly by Six Of Diamonds-Nasty As Can Be, go in races nine and 13, respectively, for Wally Hennessey.
Next Saturday (September 17) the Florida-sired stars will be back in action in the fourth leg of the Sunshine Stakes.
The FSBOA and Pompano Park will have beverages available at the Winner’s Circle bar area both days.
