Trois-Rivieres, QC — On Wednesday night (June 17) at the Hippodrome 3R, the promising homebred colt Promesses Imperial will go for his third straight win this season for owner, breeder and driver Jerome Lombart of Bromont, QC.

Promesses Imperial will go for his third straight win this season on Wednesday.

The son of Imperial Angus, from the Promising Catch mare Flirts Dancer, has three starts already this season with two straight wins. He is the 5-2 morning line favorite in Wednesday’s sixth race featured trot.

“He has done well now, said Lombart. “He didn’t break any records the last two races, but he has improved very much.”

In his past two wins, Promesses Imperial has led from start to finish in each race, clocking identical times of 2:03.2. He is trained by Andreane LaPierre.

Lombart does have hope that Promesses Imperial will continue to improve and be ready for the Quebec-Bred Series that gets underway throughout the month of July.

“He will have to get much better in order to compete with Intouchable,” Lombart explained. “That colt just won his first start of the year at Rideau Carleton in 1:58.3. He is a full brother to the top horse Maximuscle, who just won the C$35,000 Quebec-Bred Series at 3R on Sunday.

“I just have to hope that there are enough horses to go two divisions,” Lombart added. “And that we draw into the other division. If we do have to race against this good colt then we will try out best.

“My horse can race from behind. But the field needs to be going some in the front or else I have to move with him. And if we get in the same race with Intouchable, then we will see what happens. He should get better each time he races.”

Other contenders in the race include Erge Jack from post four, SOS Robocop in post eight and Bouffon P V from the rail.

Promesses Imperial is the only 3-year-old in the field.

The Wednesday night program gets underway at the Hippodrome 3R at 7 p.m. For more information visit www.quebecjockeyclub.com.
