Purse increase on feature races at Van Wert, Ohio

by Bill Peters

Edgerton, OH — The purses for the Harvest Trot and the Peony Pace at the Van Wert County Fair at Van Wert, Ohio, have been increased to $2,500 with the $50 entry fees to be added.

The purse increases are the result of a contribution by a generous donor.

The Harvest Trot will be raced on Thursday (Aug. 30) with the Peony Pace to be contested on Friday (Aug. 31). Both races are for winners of at least $2,000 lifetime and are limited to nine entries with no trainer having more than one entry. If more than nine horses are entered, Ohio sired or Ohio owned will have first preference and the top money winners in 2018 will have second preference.

Entries for the Harvest Trot will close at 10 a.m. on Monday (Aug. 27), and the box will close for the Peony Pace at 10 a.m. on Tuesday (Aug. 28). Entries for both races may be made online through the USTA or phoned to Bill Peters at 614.984.9515.
